On May 3, 2025, a religious and civil commemoration was held in Lussingrande (in present-day Croatia) to commemorate the presence of the SSM Sisters and especially the death of Sr. Emanuela Deinlein, originally from Bamberg, Germany. Sr. Emanuela died a holy death on January 26, 1897, at the age of 25, while caring for sick children, and was buried on the island.
The house in Lussingrande was opened by Mother Frances Streitel to care for sick children. The events of World War I forced the sisters to abandon their mission in 1914.
