As we enter the Season of Creation 2026, whose theme is Living Water, we are invited to recognize water as a sacred gift that sustains all life and reflects God’s healing presence in creation.
As Franciscans, may this season deepen our reverence for “Sister Water” and call us to renewed gratitude, simplicity and responsibility in the way we use, conserve, and protect this precious gift. Let us be mindful of those who lack clean and abundant water.
In his message for World Day of Prayers for the Care of Creation 2026, Pope Leo XIV described human suffering and ecological disruption as “a single plea for healing and peace arising from a wounded world.” As sisters of the Sorrowful Mother, these words resonate with us as we committed ourselves to stand with those who suffer.
“This year’s Season of Creation theme, “Living Water,” speaks of healing and restoration. Yet in a moment of loss and disruption for many communities, we receive that image with humility: trusting in renewal while remaining close to those who are suffering”.
