Dear Sisters, Novices and Postulants,
Dear Associates and Friends,
Greetings to you!
Today, April 22, we celebrate Earth Day with the words of Holy Father Francis, who invites us to follow the example of Christ: “Jesus ‘was able to invite others to be attentive to the beauty that there is in the world because he himself was in constant touch with nature, lending it an attraction full of fondness and wonder. As he made his way throughout the land, he often stopped to contemplate the beauty sown by his Father, and invited his disciples to perceive a divine message in things’” (Laudate Deum, 64).
The Holy Father reminds us that the care of creation is not only an environmental issue, but also a human and social issue: «… we know that authentic faith not only gives strength to the human heart, but also transforms life, transfigures our goals and sheds light on our relationship to others and with creation as a whole» (Laudate Deum, 61).
And so, with him, I invite each of us to keep asking ourselves: “What is the meaning of my life? What is the meaning of my time on this earth? And what is the ultimate meaning of all my work and effort?” (Laudate Deum, 33).
