130th Anniversary of the Foundation of the SSM Congregation

February 16th 1883-2013

“Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks for He’s given Jesus Christ, his Son”

Give thanks for Mother Frances and for all of those who have gone before us

“We are standing on the shoulders of the ones who came before us
They are saints and they are humans, they are angels, they are friends”

Song: Standing on the Shoulders

Give thanks to the Lord with a grateful heart!

Dear Sisters and Friends,

"My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord – the Mighty One who has done great things for me,” (Lk.1 46-49)

Mary’s song the Magnificat echoes our thanks to God. He has done great things for us, the Church, the world and our congregation, that was founded 130 years ago.  We give special thanks to him for the gift of our foundress, Venerable Mother Frances Streitel.

It is with humility and gratitude that I invite you to sing a new song to the Lord (PS. 96), thanking the Holy Spirit who through his power initiated the work of our congregation and has faithfully renewed it. Today, our “new song” can be the remembrance and the narration of God’s work in and through us.  It can be a way for us to bring the fuller life that Christ has promised to all.
